p.s. Fellow Pro Photographers – You can find the templates I created for the above albums at http://viewfromthevillage.etsy.com :)

Soon I’ll post some shots of custom-framed prints. They really look fantastic in person! I’m thrilled to be able to offer this service to clients.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Pink Pamper Party Fundraiser on Friday. It was fun to see so many friendly faces raising a lot of money for a great cause!

When people ask me ‘Where’s your studio?’ I like to point outside. Don’t get me wrong: I have seen beautiful studio portraits and there are studio photographers whose work I admire. It is easier to control the lighting conditions in a studio, and you don’t have to reschedule due to rain. However, sunsets don’t happen indoors! ;) Kids are more relaxed in their own homes or the great outdoors and most of the formality associated with traditional portraiture melts away. The right setting can add so much to a photograph, both in terms of visual interest and emotional impact, which is why I love working on location! I’d be happy to discuss possible locations for a portrait session by phone, email or in person (Starbucks, anyone? :) ).

Hey ladies!

You’re invited to a “Pink Pamper Party” night of fun and relaxation to benefit a great cause.   There will be Avon beauty products for sale, a raffle with great prizes (including a £150 voucher to Over the Rainbow Photography), yummy food and loads more!   Proceeds will benefit Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity.

Friday 24 July from 7-11pm at the Tower Hotel in Derry

I’ll be there with product samples and information about our services as well as some “pink prints” for sale. :)

If you need more information, I can put you in touch with the Event Coordinator. Hope to see you there!

I thought I’d help you get to know me by sharing a little about what you can expect from a portrait session with me.

Thinking of booking a custom portrait session with Over the Rainbow Photography?  Great!  Leave behind the forced smiles, anxiety, and dull backdrops most of us remember from school picture days, and bring your personality!  At the beginning of the session we’ll chat a bit and schedule an appointment (about 2 weeks later) for you to view your finished proofs and place your print order.  While my style is pretty informal, I will provide you with some direction (posing). Few things can stifle normal interaction faster than being told to ‘relax and act naturally’ by a person holding a camera! I will do my best to put you at ease and make your portrait session an enjoyable experience.  You will never be told to sit still or say cheese.  Typical portrait sessions can be very stressful for parents; we feel pressed for time and pressured to make sure everyone looks and acts “perfect”.  You can relax because a session with me is not typical. :) Children will respond to your lead, so let’s all play around and have some fun.  Let’s see those wide-eyed stares, cheeky smirks, giggles, and true smiles.  Will everything be perfect? I sincerely doubt it! But we’ll have fun, and your images will be real, beautiful, and you. I’d love to help you personalise your portraits even more, so if you have ideas you’d like to try, please speak up.  (p.s. If there are little ones involved, I will act silly and I may ask you to join in. You’ve been warned! :D ) More details are available on the website.  Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Welcome to our brand-new blog.  I’m sure I’ll find things to tweak along the way (Damn it, Jim! I’m a photographer, not a web designer! ;) haha) but I’m extremely pleased so far.  Thanks for stopping by.  :)
