Yes, it’s that time already! Sorry. I did wait until September to mention it. Time to start making lists (and checking them twice). This is a great time of year to get an up-to-date portrait of the kids, yourself or the whole family. It’s also a busy time of year, so session dates are limited. Book early to avoid disappointment. You can purchase files individually or as part of your complete session gallery. (A digital image file is one high-resolution ready-to-print JPG. If that last sentence is Greek to you, just phone or email me for clarification. )

Each file purchased comes with a low-resolution file for email and a complimentary 5×7 print for reference, and when you order the complete gallery a beautiful custom keepsake box and a 20% discount on any other prints or products ordered are included as well!

Inspired by a number of things, including a street musician playing When I’m 64, my own upcoming 5 year anniversary, and the groom’s adorable parents at last week’s wedding,

(married 26 years ) I have decided to take on a special photography project showcasing love in many ages and stages over the next few months. After all, that is why I’m a people photographer! Life is love, and love is beautiful.

What do you need to do? Be you, in love (whether it has been 6 months or 60 years)! Send me an email stating your names, how long you’ve been together, and a brief note about you and why you’re interested in the project.

You can also apply on behalf of friends or relatives – Maybe your parents haven’t had a single photo of just the two of them taken since their wedding 20 years ago… Maybe you look up to your sister and brother-in-law as an example of what love looks like… Maybe you admire the way your neighbours have held together through illness… Tell me about it!

All couples will be considered regardless of age, gender, marital status, cultural background, etc. but in particular I am interested in couples celebrating milestones (especially 50th wedding anniverary), renewing marriage vows, overcoming adversity together and those just starting out.

Couples chosen for the project will receive a complimentary photo shoot, a framed 5×7 print of their favourite image, the opportunity to purchase additional prints at 10% off, and my gratitude. If chosen, you must be willing to be photographed (it’s ok if you’re a bit shy!) and happy for the images to be displayed online and in print.

Any entrants not selected for the project will still receive my thanks and a voucher for a discounted portrait session in 2011.

James and Leah got married at the beautiful Springhill House in Moneymore, Northern Ireland. It was a gorgeous day full of sunny skies and even sunnier smiles. Leah, James, their wedding party and both families were all so lovely. If anyone was stressed out, they certainly hid it well!

Okay, just a quick look today…

Not really. The blog has been a bit neglected lately, though, and I did go to the circus Thursday evening! Not only did I have a great time, I also learned a new mathematical principle. Apparently, the size of the slide is directly proportional to the size of the grin:

Little Miss thoroughly enjoyed the performances and the cotton candy. (candy floss, if you must!) Her excitement reminded me of being a little girl myself, including my love of all things sparkly. I only carried one lens and clapped and cheered with the rest of the crowd, but you know I couldn’t resist taking a few shots of some of the fabulous acts! (There was also juggling, dancing, special guest appearances by Minnie & Mickey Mouse and more.)

She had a great voice.

They were funny. I only just managed to cover my camera when they squirted us with water!

There are no shots of the rope-skipping or blinfolded wheel-walking because I was too busy holding my breath!

Curtain call. Europe’s largest travelling show Circus Vegas (American Circus) is in Portrush through Wednesday 4 August if you’d like to see for yourself. They’ve lots of great human performers and pony rides for the kiddos during intermission. Wave a tiny American flag for me!

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. My hubby got some chill out time and his favourite takeaway, and the kids and I had a nice Skype chat with my dad in Seattle this evening.

This is our lovely baby session giveaway winner! Little Miss B is two months old, tiny and sweet. I photographed her two older sisters last spring, so it was really nice to see how much they’ve grown and chat with their mum & dad again. I look forward to seeing the whole family again when the littlest miss is a bit bigger.
